Career and Technical Certification Program
IUP's 60-credit Career and Technical
Teacher Certification Program is divided into two levels, Vocational Instructional
I and Vocational Instructional II.
Vocational Instructional I Requirements:
- Successfully complete the
Occupational Competency Assessment in the occupational area being
taught
- 15 credits of vocational professional
education coursework (VOED 100)
- 3 credits of liberal studies coursework
(College Writing)
- Attend group activities each semester
as instructed
- Verify two years of wage-earning
experience in addition to the learning period in the occupational
area being taught
- Pass a speech screening test
- Complete the first of two PDE 430
Observations
- Successfully complete
PRAXIS I: Computerized PPST Assessments in Reading
and Writing
Vocational Instructional II Requirements:
- Must hold a Vocational Instructional
I Certificate
- 15 credits of vocational professional
education coursework (VOED 400)
- 18 credits of liberal studies coursework
- 6 credits of professional education
coursework
- 3 credits of Public Speaking
- Attend group activities each semester
as instructed
- Verify three years of satisfactory
teaching on a Vocational I teaching certificate
- Participate in school's Induction
Program
- Successfully complete the
Praxis II: Specialty Area
Test - Vocational General Knowledge
- Complete PDE 430 Observation
